Our three-city NHL tour of Western Canada reached its end Sunday, as Mrs. Fan and I drove up to Edmonton to see the Oilers and Stars do battle at Rexall Place.

Rexall Place won’t be the Oilers’ home for much longer — a new arena in downtown Edmonton is under construction — but there’s lots of history behind the old building, mainly because of the 1980s dynasty that produced five Stanley Cups. The current Oilers aren’t exactly that good, but we still had a great time watching what turned out to be a rollicking 6-5 shootout win for the Stars.
And with that, we’re headed home! But we’ll be back soon, Canada.
