Checking out the champs’ home

After starting the year in OKC for NBA action, we continued the theme by heading south to San Antonio and catching the Spurs and Wizards at AT&T Center.

The home of the defending NBA champs is a beautiful place — entering through the main gate, you almost feel like you’re attending a fiesta-themed prom (only without the well-dressed couples). Inside, it’s a party atmosphere, and the seating bowl is big but not too cavernous.

No matter what, your eyes are drawn to the five large championship banners hung at one end of the building, a conspicuous reminder of the Spurs’ success and just one indication of how good the NBA fans of San Antonio have it.

We’re headed home after this, but we’ve got more big travel plans for the very near future.
