Hockey just outside NYC

Any East Coast hockey tour requires a stop in the New York metro area, with three different NHL teams to choose from. That’s where Mrs. Fan wound up Friday, stopping at Prudential Center to see the Devils take on the Islanders.

“The Pru,” alternately known as “The Rock,” is just a few minutes by train from midtown Manhattan and Madison Square Garden, home of the rival Rangers. But the Devils have carved out a nice niche in Newark after winning three Stanley Cup titles at its former home arena, a few miles north at the Meadowlands.

Mrs. Fan’s back at it Monday, heading down to D.C. to check out the Capitals at the Verizon Center.
