Our heroes…

Short post today — I thought I’d share this promotion, which should tug at the heartstrings of all fans who just wanted to buy tickets for a game and wound up paying another $15-20 a ticket in surcharges or fees or other nonsense. The Los Angeles Kings say if you buy a ticket for one of their home games in February, the Ticketmaster fees will be waived.

OK, full disclosure: I’m a big Kings fan. But seriously, isn’t this awesome? I remember when I was a teenager, I’d go directly to the ballpark or stadium or arena, even if it wasn’t anywhere near convenient to me, just to avoid paying the Ticketmaster fee. Then Ticketmaster took over most teams’ ticket-selling operations, and I figured that was the end of it; I’d have to live with exorbitant surcharges forever. Now, suddenly, there’s hope.

So I say to you, L.A. Kings, thank you. And I say to everyone else out there, this is good reason to root for the L.A. Kings. And if you’re not going to do so because they’re waiving the Ticketmaster fees, then do it because they’re actually good this year.
