In honor of today’s Major League Baseball Home Run Derby and tomorrow’s All-Star Game, here’s our random photo of the day:
As the above sentence might have suggested, this photo was taken at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati by our friend J-Park during his visit there in 2013. With the Ohio River in the background (and neighboring Kentucky in the distance), the ballpark doesn’t skimp on the riverboat theme, from this structure to the smokestacks that go off whenever a Reds player hits a home run.
Great American Ball Park doesn’t often get mentioned in the “best ballpark” debate, but it undoubtedly has its charms. Perhaps having the All-Star showcase this week will highlight its finer points.
