The soccer scene in SoCal

This weekend we rounded up the whole I-Fan gang to take a visit to the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Myself, Mrs. Fan, J-Park, Vintage Gal and two other friends watched the hometown team, the LA Galaxy, steal a victory from the Houston Dynamo with a goal in stoppage time.

From the weekend: A little MLS soccer action in L.A. (Or, at least, the L.A. area.)

These are heady times for soccer in the Los Angeles region. MLS is bringing a second team to the area, Los Angeles FC (at least that’s what it’s known as currently) and the club’s ownership group just announced that it’ll build a new stadium on the site of the Los Angeles Sports Arena, right by the L.A. Coliseum. So by 2018 there’ll (again) be two teams in the area, following the dissolution of Chivas USA.

For now, L.A. has the reigning MLS champs to watch. Oh, and FC Barcelona is coming to town in the summertime. That certainly is something to look forward to as well.
